Johnny boy

Dot art has been prevailant for quite sometime now. Though I have had an appreciation for the art work, I was only recently drawn to it after a visit to the museum at Tirumala,Tirupathi which hosted a series of wonderfully done dot art amongst other equally beautiful art works.

Conventionally done with a ball point pen, I did this with a marker pen (that's why I had bigger dots and well, the ink spread out on the not-so-good paper of mine!).

I wouldn't call it my art work, but it did engage my mind when I was suffering an artist's block ;)

Starry night

This is a very inaccurate imitation of Van Gogh's painting of the same name.

I saw soft pastels in the store the other day and I wanted to give them a try immediately. So got the box of pastels home and did this. I have worked with oil pastels before and thought working with soft pastels would not be new, but I was completely wrong! I have never had a harder time with a set of colours that produces dust like when writing with chalk, and such unstable colours that keep smudging that I found it difficult to keep my work clean.

(Enthusiasts, there are more paintings in this series of his and you should atleast google them out and view it! They are absolutely wonderful)

Van Gogh's olive trees is on my agenda for the near future.

An attempt at African painting

Inspired by something I saw on the net when I searched for African art, I did this. But I have to warn you that this become totally different than the original art. I filled in a much more colours, tried by hand at shanding with the greenery with my own style and then tried a head gear for the lady. The result is what you see here.

Though I liked the colourful effect it has, I am not very happy with the bold images and outlines I have created.
